TAKE THE BELOW 7 ACTIONS BEFORE MONDAY, MAY 28 2018

STEP 1:

SIGN & SHARE THE PETITION

On May 31 at 14:00, the Finance Commission of the parliament will submit written questions on this topic around the new proposed taxation law to the State Secretary. A copy of the agenda can be found here. We will deliver this petition to Parliament in advance of this meeting to highlight our position on this law and the need to protect current recipients of the 30% ruling. The more signatures we have, the more influence we will have. Please sign and share this petition widely.

STEP 2:

FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THE DUTCH GOVERNMeNT

1. Click the "File Complaint" button.

2. Organization: Ministry of Finance

3. Subject:  Concerns on proposal to reduce 30% ruling for current expats

4. Tell them how long you have been in the Netherlands and how this change will impact your personal or families' life, both financially and emotionally.

STEP 3:

EMAIL A COMPLAINT TO THE FINANCE COMMITTEE

You can also email a copy of your letter from Step 2 to the clerk of the Financial Committee at cie.fin@tweedekamer.nl. The clerk will then forward your message to the MPs (and thus you do not have to send each MP an individual email).  Below are the MP's responsible for debating fiscal policy:

OPPOSITION PARTIES

  • Edgar Mulder (PVV)
  • Bart Snels (GroenLinks)
  • Renske Leijten (SP)
  • Henk Nijboer (PvdA)

COALITION PARTIES

  • Helma Lodders (VVD)
  • Pieter Omtzigt (CDA)
  • Steven van Weyenberg (D66)
  • Eppo Bruins (ChristenUnie)

STEP 4:

JOIN OUR RALLY MAY 29th @ Parliament 13:00-14:00

On May 29th from 13:00 to 14:00, join 100 fellow expats as we gather together in Den Haag to deliver a petition to Parliament. Comprised of representatives from the United Expats of the Netherlands (UENL) along with members of diverse political, corporate, and academic entities, the petition requests that the Dutch government honor its commitment to highly skilled expats who are currently recipients of the 30% tax ruling.

STEP 5:

CONTACT YOUR EMPLOYER

Employers can be powerful allies in our fight for fairness.  Make sure your employer knows the impact of this tax ruling, and ask them to speak to their lobbying groups (for example the VNO) on your behalf and on the behalf of all other impacted employees at your company. You can use this template to help start the conversation. Please also consider contacting the chair of Corporate Outreach to let him know your efforts and how we can support you!

STEP 6:

DONATE TO THE EXPAT FIGHT FUND

This effort costs money. We need to seek out legal support to ensure that all of our activities are fully compliant with Dutch law. We need to hire experts to help us formulate and maximize the success of our strategy. We need to plan events. We need to amplify our voices with convincing messaging and combine our talents.  Your contribution will help us in this fight.

STEP 7:

CONTACT YOUR COUNTRIES EMBASSY

Reach out to your embassy via email. In your email, identify who you are, how long you have lived in the Netherlands, why you are living in the Netherlands, and explain the proposed changes to the 30% tax rule and your concerns associated with this rule. Be sure to explain how this proposed change will affect you, and ask them to speak up on your behalf.

STEP 8:
